Costa Rica recently saw a change in leadership by force. The Costa Rican Congress dispatched troops to arrest President Zelaya, accusing him of holding an illegal referendum on their Constitution. Pres. Zelaya was seeking to eliminate any limit to how many terms he could serve. Zelaya, a known Socialist and ally of Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, fled when Costa Rican troops seized the National Palace. The Congress later voted to accept what it said is Zelaya's letter of resignation.
I think it is important to note their Congress said they acted to defend their Constitution. I think this is a brave and daring act to preserve their country. The U.S. used to be this way and needs to be again. Our troops, federal agents and politicians all take an oath to defend the Constitution (not the country) against all enemies foreign and domestic, yet we are beset with dozens of such enemies. Our banks are being nationalized, our medicine socialized and our businesses are being subjected to fascist control. Fascist in the style of Mussolini. We are quickly losing our national identity and our President is being globally viewed as a weakling and a joke.
We need to get past ideas of the left and the right and start seeing things as right and wrong. Millions have shed their blood and lost their lives for this nation. It's high time we honored them be restoring the original concept the founding Fathers laid down on paper.

April 15th Tea Party!

America, I just returned from the Texas Tea Party, and it was absolutely fantastic! It was empowering, enlightening, and just a total flow of optimism! Not optimism in the failed policies and politics of our corrupt Government. Optimism in that we had each other. All of us were joined together, as Americans. All of us were joined together as one. There were several thousand at the Tea Party I attended.

There were as many as 20,000 protesters gathered in Atlanta. And there were over 2,000 Tea Parties that happened across the nation! The people have spoken, but Washington... are you listening??? It was wonderful going to one of these events, because you knew right away that you were not alone.

There was an astounding sense of camaraderie, that I will certainly never forget. And now I know for sure, having witnessed this with my own eyes... that we surround them! Happy April 15th everyone. What is usually a very stressful and tough day for Americans, has now become a day of empowerment, togetherness and common sense. God bless America.

Cuban Trade

Cuba is on it's last leg. In the 50 years that Cuba has been around, it's had the iron fisted rule of a ruthless despot who is tied with Kim Jong Il for the Nobel Prize in Evil, a cultural icon which not only kept it's own people filled with false hope for an imaginary utopia, but also inspired the rest of the world, and it's had it's mini-Cold War with the United States.

Recently, we've seen it all disapear. Raul Castro has replaced his brother Fidel, a person whom most people are not positive is still even alive. Although Raul is just as much a Communist autocrat born of a bloody revolution, it is unlikely that he will be able to replicate his brothers talent for torture, barbarity, and oppression.

While college kids and some left over hippies my still wear the image of an insane butcher on their chest, Che's status as an inspiration for a generation of idealistic, drugged-up flower children is almost completely dead. He is seen as a man on a Gap t-shirt, and nothing more. While a student at Berkely in 1968 would have told you that Che overthrew the pig Batista is going to bring a worker's utopia to Latin America, a student at Berkely in 2008 possibly could have told you that he was a revolutionary in Cuba way back when. Cuba is viewed by the population as one of the last desperate failed states, and is not seen as a future paradise any more.

And finally, President Obama has effectively brought an end to the mini-Cold War that has existed since the Cuban Government lost it's sponser when the Russian Socialist Soviet Republic fell in 1991. This has been done through Obama's proposal to losen the trade barriers, and allow greater tourism of the small Carribian island.

Of course, if Raul wishes to keep his nation from becoming a real life Atlantis and sinking into the sea, he will accept at least some of the terms. No matter how insane the entire Cuban Government may be, they cannot ignore the fact that their country is starving and desperate. Their people, blind as they may be, are about as technologically advanced as a pack of chimpanzees. They are hungry. And they are desperate to escape. Raul cannot escape these facts, as much as he may try to. When the time comes to make his descision, he will almost certainly do what any ruler wishing to keep the French Revolution from repeating itself would do: accept. If he does not, it will signal the end of any hope for a bloodless (or even lightly bloody) transition into democracy. The only way that will be able to happen is if every Cuban citizen storms Havana and hauls out a guilottinne.

However, Cuba's stance on the issue is not what most Americans are concerned about: the question for most of us is, should we open to a Communist nation, or keep our doors shut? The important thing to remember before a conclusion can be reached is the context: The trade barriers were erected to starve Cuba into willingness to transform into a democratic state. By some miracle of God, Cuba has been able to sustain itself long enough to keep itself from imploding. Obvioulsy, our plan hasn't worked. Is it time for a new strategy? Or should we just drop the mini-Cold War and let Cuba do what it wants to?

The answer is both. The key to turning Communist Cuba into Capitalist Cuba is to bring America there. Don't wait for Cuba to change, and don't wait for the Cubans to come to America. Let Americans go there, let companies build there, communicate, trade, cooperate. And the reason is not to show Cubans that we are “reasonable people” willing to work hand in hand with a communist state – it's to show the Cubans what Americans are like, and bring them to the point where they no longer just want to come to America -they want to Change Cuba.

How can we bet on this happening? Why should we so recklessly hope that a 50 year old human rights violating failed state run by Asylum escapees would see us, and change?

Because it's happened before.

Go across the world to China, and back to 1972. Richard Nixon is in office, and he's made a trip to the most unlikely of countries: Mao Zedong's China, comparable only to Hitler's Germany in it's total barbarity and degenerecy. Nixon's actions heard a chorus of criticisms from all ends of the political spectrum. Even staunch free trade libertarians decried the visit, claiming that the United States should not be negotiating with these countries.

Stay in China, but fast forward 17 years. On June 4, 1989, several thousand students were slaughtered by the Chinese military for demanding democratic reforms. Richard Nixon had introduced one of the most steadfastly Communist nations in the world to democratic capitalism and western ideals, and within 17 years, it had taken hold. Almost everyone older than 12 remembers watching a nameless, faceless young man with a briefcase – or was it a schoolbag? - holding up a line of 36 tanks for half an hour, before being hauled away by plainclothes police.

The point is that introducing democratic values to a communist nation will take hold with the people – it's happened before, and that makes it a safe bet. The only reason China managed to resist change was because it's military was a modern, advanced one controlled by a modern, advanced burocracy. Cuba would not be able to withstand an attack of it's own people. When the citizens see that their country is changing, that they no longer must run and hide, but have a chance to change their country from the inside, they willl seize it. And the government will fold or be brought down. I may have my problems with President Obama – but his actions toward Cuba, weather or not he realizes it, may prove to be the most important step in bringing democracy to Cuba we've ever taken.

Senator Harry Reid claims that income taxes are voluntary. Is this man serious? How did he get elected? Better yet how did he get reelected? He says in the video that taxes are voluntary and then says if you don't pay them you are subject to the consequences. I am sorry, to dwell on the stupidity of the man instead of the issue, but I really just can't get over it. I am thinking about calling the government up and asking for all of those voluntary taxes back that I have been paying. Maybe instead of voluntary what he really meant to say was that the income tax was unconstitutional hmm.

While at work tonight I started thinking about the founding fathers, not just the founding fathers in general but I was wondering if say Thomas Jefferson could win a major party nomitation if he were alive today. The answer in short.....no. Both major parties have gotten so far away from the constitution that Jefferson would certainly have to run as a Libertarian or as a Republican who most people didn't take serious (i.e. Ron Paul).

The leaders of today would think that Jefferson was crazy;Bush: "nonintervention you must be a liberal in disguise yee haw", Obama: "You must want the country to go into a depression since you don't support my government waste.", Bush again: "Civil liberties ha"

It really is sad to see what this country is turning into, our elected representatives think it is ok to take our constitution and change it anytime they want to. The time has come to get these men out of office while we still have the freedom to do so! We need to stop voting for the "lesser of two evil, (after all the lesser is still evil) and vote for someone who is dedicated to upholding the constitution and defending our civil liberties.

Warlike acts?

Yesterday, ABC News and the Wall Street Journal reported that agents of China and Russia hacked into our national power grids and left behind software designed to drive those grids down. It's believed the spies were on a mission to map the U.S. electrical system and its controls, according to current and former U.S. security officials. No systems were disabled or driven down but were made susceptible to such action in the future, say during a time of war. To my way of thinking, these are acts of war. They have threatened our national security and placed us in a position of vulnerability. These software bombs need to be investigated and made a public issue. Russia and China need to be put on notice such acts won't be tolerated...but alas, such won't be the case.

Not surprising to me, the White House has been silent in response to this news. Our President is seen as a paper tiger with no claws. Instead of speaking as the leader of a world power, his appearance at the G20 summit makes him look more like Oliver Twist asking "please Sir, I want some more." He sticks his hand out meekly to Iran seeking friendship and promptly gets told where he can stuff it. Of course we know Iran is a puppet state for Russia and former Russian President, Vladimir Putin made it clear we are the enemy. Then there's China who holds the lions share of our debt with the power to collect. Their hands are so deep in our pockets, they can tell if our underwear is clean. Meanwhile Congress and the President create another crippling bailout so they can get their hands on control of the corporations and banks foolish enough to accept them.

China and Russia are not only betting on us to fail, they're working towards it. Once we collapse, all they have to do is cut our electrical power off, walk in hand in hand and divide us up like a pie. When the lights come back on, we'll be occupied by hostile, foreign forces. By now, some of you are thinking that I'm oversimplifying how easily we could be conquered. Consider this. Most of our active duty military is abroad. Our only military forces at home are the National Guard and the Coast Guard. Large numbers of the National Guard are currently in Iraq or Afghanistan. The Coast Guard isn't equipped for land warfare. Even if the Guardsmen were home, we have no guarantee our Government wouldn't cooperate with the invaders and send the National Guard against us.

The best bet we have going is the Supreme Court decision finally affirming our right as individuals to keep and bear arms. Despite what Liberals tell you, we who own firearms, are the unorganized Militia and the last line of national defense. Obama's current indecisiveness over how to handle the Somali pirates holding an American ship captain hostage leaves me with little confidence he'll handle this global act of espionage very well.

Comedian Robin Williams used to do a bit in his standup act portraying his idea of how Jimmy Carter would handle the outbreak of nuclear war. He looks at the audience and says, "Good evening ladies and gentlemen...you're on your own. Goodnight!" and proceeds to exit stage right. Perhaps Mr. Williams will turn out to be more Prophet than Comic although I sincerely hope not.

Greetings all! I am recent addition to this blog. The founder of this blog so impressed me with his views and his site that I asked to be a part of it. As the title says, this is my introduction. I was born in 1958, the product of a long line of Conservative thinkers stretching back to the days of the American Revolution. My Father's family emigrated from Germany prior to the Revolution and migrated west and south. His branch of the family settled in Kansas, where I was born. Mother's family was from Ireland and came here during the great Potato famine. I hope to bring you opinions that you find well thought out and incisive. The news has reported the recent shootings in New York. An Associated Press story says nearly every gunman in this month long series of mass killings was legally entitled to fire his weapons...What? I don't recall any law that allows anyone to "fire his weapons" in the commission of a crime! The U.S. Supreme Court has finally affirmed we have the right to keep and bear our arms but I don't recall anything they said gives anyone the right to go shooting with intent to murder people! This is exactly the kind of sloppy reporting that fuels mindless arguments in support of more useless and ineffective gun laws!

It turns out a State Police informant reported in nineteen-ninetyseven that Jiverly Wong was planning a bank heist to feed a Cocaine habit. Wong's Broome County permit was a year from expiration and did not have to be renewed. Despite local authorities having broad discretion in reviewing permits in regards to drug use, criminal behavior or violence, Wong's permit was renewed.Binghamton police chief Joseph Zikuski said Tuesday that no robbery occurred and there was no merit to review Wong's gun permit.

Apparently Wong's reputed drug habit alledged to by a State Police informant wasn't enough cause for concern...Here's my point. Tragedy and evil acts occur. They are a part of life and thus, unavoidable. Chief Zikuski is no less responsible for Wong's act by ignoring a report that indicated a drug problem than Wong shooting those people. It proves once again that the problem isn't a lack of laws but a lack of enforcement, or in this case a lack of available preventive measures.

It takes a very twisted individual to run around killing people's pets, just for the fun of it. And it takes a total monster, to murder the dog of a recovering American hero. Trashing an American Hero

The man pictured on the left, is an American hero. He was a Navy SEAL who fought hard for the country he loved. One day, he and his comrades were conducting a risky mission, that resulted in the deaths of every soldier, except for this man on the left.

The name of the man on the left is Marcus Luttrell, who was severely wounded in the operation. He was taken captive by terrorists and tortured in ways that are absolutely unwritable. I'm not exactly sure how everything happened next, so I won't pretend like I do. I've read many conflicting stories as to how he got away from his captors. But one thing's for sure-- he did get away, and he was rescued by American forces. This is just a very brief overview about this man.

But the reason I'm briefly telling you about this American hero, and the story of his survival, is because of something terrible that happened to him late at night on April 5th, 2009. Because of Luttrell's trauma, he finds it hard to sleep at night, so he mostly sleeps during the day. So late at night, he heard a gunshot coming from the front yard of his house. He jumps from his bed, checks to make sure if his mother is alright, and then he bolts outside with his gun in hand.

Once outside, he sees four men standing there, and one of them has a gun. And right by their feet is Luttrell's dog "Dasy" laying dead. These men came to this hero's house and killed his dog just for the fun of it. Now before I continue with the story, I want to tell you more about this dog "Dasy", because it's very important. When Luttrell came home from the war, after being rescued, he came home a very broken guy physically and emotionally. And so this puppy was given to the Navy SEAL, so that he could have company while he was going through all the hard times.

And of course, Luttrell bonded with this puppy, and he named her "Dasy". Each letter of the name "Dasy" represents one of the fallen members of his combat team. So this dog had a lot of sentimental value. It helped Luttrell recover emotionally, and it was sort of a symbol for his fallen comrades. But these four men came in the middle of the night, and shot "Dasy" in cold blood. Just because they could.

These monsters looked to be between the ages of 18-24. As soon as they saw the veteran with his gun, they jumped into their vehicle and sped off. But Luttrell got into his truck and pursued closely behind. He chased these punks through four counties, all the while he was on the phone with police. Finally, they gave up after seeing a police roadblock and at least three men were detained. By the way though, when these guys stepped out of their vehicle, they were laughing at Luttrell and verbally threatening his life. They even joked about the way they murdered "Dasy". Hell was created for a very good reason.

One of the four does remain at large, his name is Michael Edmonds and we hope he's found. You can see what Michael Edmonds looks like here. If you see that man, call your local authorities and don't let him leave your sight. This cowardly low-life deserves a maximum sentence for trashing an American hero. Bolt: BOOF Thumbs Up!

Thankfully, the Libertarian message is finding its way into many films these days. Disney's Bolt, tells the story of a celebrity dog who has been raised by a movie cast to think he's really an action hero. While the bad guys the dog/actor fights are really celebrities in costume, "Bolt" thinks these villains are real.

Not only are they real to the K-9, but his fight against them becomes the sole purpose of his life. That is... until he finds out these "criminal masterminds" are fake, and that his whole life has been, up to that point, an illusion! An illusion created by a film cast. "Bolt" realizes that he is not the writer of his own life... he has writers who are writing his life.

His world has come crashing down, and for awhile "Bolt" doesn't think he'll make it. But the disappointment soon leads him on a path of self-discovery that transforms into a real hero.

So while coming to terms with the fact that his life had all been a game so far, in the long run, it helped him to become something truly great. Something truly heroic. It re-emphasizes to us, that Government can only feed us their myths, lies, and empty slogans for so long. It can only feed us their illusions for a time. We The People, will not live our lives as if we're running in some sort of hamster wheel! It's only a matter of time, before We The People spit out the bureaucratic garbage, the Government so often spoon-feeds us.

The time will come when the common person, realizes that the Government was not meant to define and determine what our lives are. And as soon as the common person realizes that, society will go on a journey of self-discovery much like "Bolt" did. It will be a journey where We The People will ultimately triumph.

What is Non-Interventionism, and why should I care?

Non-Interventionism: "A foreign policy which holds that political rulers should avoid alliances with other nations, and avoid all wars not related to direct territorial self-defense." -Dictionary

Usually when we hear talk of the recent wars and skirmishes we've been in, common words used for their description are: "Fiasco", "Failure", or a "Flop". How many times have we the American people, heard similar phrases such as the ones below, when our latest wars are being described: "Unintended and unexpected consequences...", "Not what was planned...", "Regrettable collateral damage...", and so on. You've heard the rhetoric of our Government. You've heard its excuses.

And America, if you're like me, you look back at World War II and you think "What did we do so right then? What have we been doing now that's so wrong? How did that war unite the nation, and every war since then divide it? How come everyone agrees World War II was necessary, but not so much with every other war we've been involved in since?" These aren't outlandish questions by any stretch. World War II brought Americans together after tough economic depression. It helped us to renew and restore. World War II helped us to recognize once again, who we were and why we were.

But you want to know what made World War II as successful and appropriate as it was? America was in terrible danger. There were enemies who blatantly shouted their hatred for individual liberty, and freedom-loving nations around the world. We Americans were certainly no exception to that hatred. With the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, and Nazi submarines terrorizing our seas, the US had every right to defend itself and the liberties it championed. That's what made World War II a just and honorable war. But after that, we became a different people. We no longer fought wars just to defend ourselves. Instead, we became world policeman.

You look at the Korean War or the Vietnam War. You look at the skirmish of Mogadishu, also known as the Black Hawk Down incident. These fights weren't for the defense and preservation of our liberties. Why could we not have let the Vietnamese and Koreans conduct their own wars and other affairs? If chaos had broken out in Korea, America wouldn't have been in any danger. And what about the Mogadishu incident of 1994? For those of you who aren't aware of that incident, it took place in the East African country of Somalia. Civil war and revolution broke out, and had torn that country to tatters. Was it unfortunate? Oh yes absolutely. Should we have it in our hearts to give to charities, helping those Somali families and children? You bet we should! But should we have risked the lives of our soldiers, to try and stop a fight that wasn't ours? Did the Somalian radicals pose any direct threat to us? No.

Their weapons were primitive at best, and food was scarce in that country. They certainly didn't have the means, or even the desire, to harm America. But that didn't stop the US Government from forcing our soldiers to fight a war that wasn't ours to fight. The mission turned out to be disastrous and we took many casualties. Lots of our own soldiers were killed, and you know what? Before our intervention in Somalia, they didn't really care about who we were or what we were up to. We weren't really even a thought in their minds. But as soon as we intervened in a fight that wasn't our business... they not only knew about us, they hated us. So much to the point, that the Somali extremists' whole cause shifted from "Take control of the country." to "Fight the Americans!"

And to this day, Somalia is still a dangerous place for Americans to travel, whereas if we had not intervened, and had just let the conflict play itself out, things might not have been so dangerous. But why am I giving you all this history? Why is it important? Because our past is screaming at us, and it's high-time we listen. And what is it trying to say? It's saying this: Interventionism is killing us! Somewhere along the line, our Government's gotten this idea that since it's so big and powerful, it should go around the world somehow, and solve everybody's problems.

Our world is a very dangerous place though. Dictators and evil regimes are inevitable. And that should break the heart of anyone who is human. But just because it's unfortunate, that doesn't mean we should try and be the world police. Not only does it cost us billions of taxpayer dollars, not only does it increase our debt already at $13 trillion, it's most importantly costing us precious American lives! These American soldiers of ours, have families and they have friends.

They have mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, spouses, girlfriends and boyfriends, they have life-long pets, they have brothers and sisters, and they have best friends. They are people! And they're selfless people, because they have given up their rights and their lives, to defend us and the people they love. That's why the troops do what they do. Ask any of them why they joined, and most of them will tell you, "To serve my country." or "To protect the people I love."

To defend. To help the nation. Do we really want to put their lives in jeopardy, to fight a dictator or regime that isn't of any danger to us? I don't think I'm over the top, when I say that life is sacred! Yet our government deploys our troops left and right to every country that has a problem. Bush was even considering at one point, sending our soldiers into Darfur, Sudan! Why? To stop genocide. Is genocide terrible? You bet it is! But couldn't the Sudanese people handle that themselves? Even if they couldn't, why should we send our soldiers over to try and fix their mess?

Sudan wasn't a danger to us. If we would simply embrace Non-Interventionism, our men and women wouldn't be thrown into so much danger overseas. Because if we reinstated Non-Interventionism like we had in World War II, we would only go to war to defend ourselves, and to preserve our treasured freedoms and liberties. And not only would we be saving the precious lives of our soldiers, but it would also save us billions of dollars, which we could then use to pay off our national debt. Non-Interventionism would put more money in the pockets of Americans also, because our taxes wouldn't be so high for the sake of so much war spending.

If all of our soldiers were right here at home, we wouldn't have to pay the high cost of all these wars, and as a result... the economy would soar and our debt would disappear. Not only this, but another wonderful bright side would be the fact that they are right here at home! At home with their mothers and fathers, at home with their sons and daughters, at home with their spouses, at home with their boyfriends and girlfriends, at home with their friends, etc. And they would only have to go off to war, if we were attacked or in danger. Oh the lives that would be saved! Not just the lives of our soldiers either.

The lives of innocent people in other countries, who die by the thousands, due to honest mistakes and mishaps during wartime. That would end. Non-Interventionism isn't a new concept, and in fact it's one we did have until after World War II. Not only is it not new, other countries have Non-Interventionism established as their foreign policy also. I'll give one as an example: Switzerland has long been known for its policy of defensively-armed neutrality. Which means that unless they're attacked, they don't fight needless wars, or assist others in fighting other wars. The result?

A wonderful economy! In fact, many people from all around the world, bank and invest there. Have you heard of any recent wars in which the Swiss have been involved in? No. Not one. How many Swiss military lives, do you think their policy has saved? Tons! Such is the result of Non-Interventionism. So we see examples of how Non-Interventionism is working wonders for the nations that instate it.

We once had it, but greediness, corruption, and special interest consumed our Government and as a result-- we're now $13 trillion in debt to other nations and organizations, and as a result our taxes are astronomical. We've lost nearly 600,000 military lives, due to our Government trying to world police, and that's not even counting the lives of innocent civilians. As a result, our outstanding servicemen are being killed daily, spouses are crying, parents are miserable, and a friend is lonely. For what? A tribal war that broke out in some unheard-of country? Soldiers want to fight for their families and their loved ones. They want to fight for a cause that affects America. And our foreign policy isn't granting them that.

I'll close with the words of our Founding Fathers, since this blog is named after them. This is what they advised to future American generations:

Our Government has turned its back on the America we once were, and it's high-time that we the people do something about it.

Exposing the Stimulus

Days ago, congress and the President signed the $800,000,000,000 stimulus package. They basically sold our economy to China, and brought in quite a few socialistic policies at the same time, to top it all off! Every baby born in America after the stimulus was passed, now automatically owes more than $40,000 to the government. Another terrifying fact about the so-called "stimulus", you can see here.

Stop the Fear-Mongering

Scare tactics. If they didn't work, people wouldn't use them. If somebody can't sweet-talk another person into letting them have their way, usually scare tactics are sure to follow. At times the accuracy behind scare tactics are true, but often times they're not, and that's usually the reason scare tactics are employed in the first place. Bosses often use fear-mongering, to get their employees to work longer on more difficult projects. Abusive parents can use fear-mongering to keep their children silent about the horrors they face day-by-day. Criminals use fear-mongering to silence witnesses. Dirty cops do the same.

But when it comes to our Government, we just somehow think that they would never use fear-mongering, to achieve their own agendas and schemes. For some reason, we think that whatever a Government official tells us is the truth, and that we need to base our actions on whatever that official said. It seldom crosses people's minds that maybe, just maybe the Government has used, and is using, the tool of fear-mongering to get its way. I mean let's face it: The Government hasn't necessarily been the shining beacon of morality as of late... or actually, as of never. Do we really think it's unlike Government to use scare tactics on the American people in order to push its pet projects and plots?

Do we trust a Government that has near sold our economy to the Chinese, among other nations? Do we trust a Government who jailed two Border Patrol agents for simply doing their jobs, and shooting an armed and dangerous illegal dope-runner, who was running across our border to do work for his drug cartel? Do we trust our Government even after the Blagojevich incident? How could the Illinois Governor have gotten away with such a scandal for soooo long a time, if the Government is supposed to be this squeaky clean entity?

I wanna tell you a story. And this story, I mean, it just... it screams what Government is all about. In the latter part of the Cold War, the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. They basically wanted to take over the country, so that they could have the oil and indoctrinate the people into Communistic ideology. Our Government didn't like that too much. They were afraid that the Soviets would somehow build this "Super Empire" by conquering so many places, and that we would then be forced to enter a third World War. The Government also didn't like the idea of Communist Russia getting all the oil. So do you wanna know what we did? ("we" as in the Government) We started funding a rag-tag Afghan band of guerilla fighters, who tried to fight the Russians out of their country. We gave this group money, weapons, whatever they wanted-- we gave it to them. Because of that, this guerilla army was successful in driving out the Soviets, which greatly pleased our Government. Do you wanna know who that guerilla army was? The Taliban.

That's right. Our Government, scared of one enemy, funded and armed another. And here's the kicker: "We" knew the Taliban was an extremist group! Yes, our Government knew and willingly supported a terrorist group, in order to defeat the Russians. Are we worried about the Russians today? Or are we more worried about the Taliban? Was it the Russians who caused 9/11? Or was it groups like the Taliban? Of course these questions almost answer themselves. Now after hearing that story, do you still trust the Government every time it tells you something? A Government who once funded the terrorists we're now fighting, just to satisfy its own self interest? Or do you think it's possible our Government could be involved, in at least a little fear-mongering here-and-there to scare the people into letting them have their way with things? Now why am I bringing all this up? Why am I trying to convince you of how dirty the Government is? I'll tell you why. Because two situations come to mind, where our President and past President have used fear-mongering on the American people, to make big changes to the way our nation has been run.

Past President first: George Bush used the valid fear of terrorism to push a very invalid, and very unconstitutional plan, called The Patriot Act. The Patriot Act being that the Government can wiretap you for any reason it sees fit, without your knowledge or even a warrant hardly. This act, while perhaps created under good intention, underminded our Fourth Amendment rights under the Constitution. Our right to privacy. The act was created to find and locate domestic terrorists. But the act did not exempt American citizens from such wiretaps, searches, etc. And with a big Government that is clearly corrupt and rotten, do you think this Patriot Act would be used to find terrorists? Or do you think it could be used by a political candidate already in Government, to spy on another political candidate who wishes to unseat him? This Patriot Act can and eventually will be used to rig elections, by a corrupt politician who has the power to use it. This violates everything the Founding Fathers stood for.

How did the American people just accept it as alright suddenly? Bush fear-mongered! He said this, when pleading on the act's behalf, "The Patriot Act closed dangerous gaps in America's law enforcement and intelligence capabilities. Gaps that terrorists exploited when they attacked us." In other words, if the PA isn't passed, we're going to be just as vulnerable as we were before 9/11, there'll be bombings everywhere, and well... we'll be terrorized. That was the fear-mongering message-- If the "Patriot Act" isn't passed, we're all doomed. The fear-mongering worked and we lost our Fourth Amendment rights.

It totally disregarded the advice of Benjamin Franklin: "They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security."

Concerning our current President, Barack Obama, he has done something a little worse. His presidential campaign was based on Hope & Change. Yet as soon as he came into office, our "Hope and Change" President has become a "We need to act now or else" President, just like the one before him. From hope to fear-mongering. Quite a leap. His $8 billion-dollar stimulus package especially comes to mind. When Obama tried desperately to pass the stimulus, which in reality was full of special interest pork, he said this "Our economy is very sick. The situation is getting worse, so we have to act quick and we have to act now." The big Government translation of that is-- We're headed for medieval-times depression stuff, if you don't pass my bill. Not only should you pass my bill, you gotta do it quick... or else the economy will go to hell in a hand-basket.

The fear-mongering worked yet again, the stimulus was passed, and in so doing, we have taken a giant step against our Free-Market Capitalistic economy our Founders believed in. Now that we're nearing the end of my article, I want you to ask yourself again, and I mean seriously ask yourself, "Do I trust the Government? Do I trust a massive entity like this, who has done all of these things? Or would I rather trust in God and myself more?" I wrote this article as a warning: The Government will always use scare tactics to take away your essential and basic freedoms. It's a convenient way for you to lose those rights willingly. Don't fall for the lies and propaganda of our Government, but instead cling to the words of our Founders and the principles they stood for.

We Support Sheriff Arpaio!

Meet Joe Arpaio, the Sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona. Joe isn't your average law man. He doesn't just pass out tickets. He doesn't let the "little" things go. And he sure as heck doesn't cater to the monsters in or out of the prison system. No, Joe is a different kinda border Sheriff in that, well... he actually takes his job seriously and does it. Donning a cowboy hat and big rugged boots, Arpaio takes a John Wayne-style hellishly ballsy approach to the issues he faces. Especially on crime and illegal immigration. His punishments for inmates range from hard labor to staying in blistering hot tents. He's even made the most brutal and barbarous criminals, wear pink underwear. That's right. Pink.

He's conducted countless raids on drug and weapon-smuggling houses. He's cracked down on violent gangs, who have in the past, terrorized our own. By doing all of these things, and much more, Joe Arpaio has significantly reduced crime in his jurisdiction. Oh yeah-- by eliminating comforts for the criminals, Sheriff Joe has shaved $500,000 annually from the cost of keeping prisoners. His policies radically reduce the crime rate and they're cost effective. And we definitely need that, considering this time of economic crisis. So who could possibly be against a tough, but good guy like Joe? Congress. Congress! Because they can't screw up enough. Four US "Representatives" (as if they really represent us), have asked the Justice Department to conduct a civil rights investigation on the Sheriff and the way he runs things. You know, since Congress has done such a bang-up job on immigration and crime lately!

Here's the list of Representatives, who oppose Arpaio and the policies of his that work. If you know their names you can vote them out: John Conyers Jr. of Michigan; Jerrold Nadler of New York; Zoe Lafgren of California; and Robert Scott of Virginia. Now hold that thought for a moment. In Phoenix, Arizona last year there were 359 kidnappings. That's one kidnapping a day for almost a full year. Phoenix comes in 2nd place for most kidnappings in the world. Not just the country. Second place on the whole planet. That's probably due to a lot of things. Gangs, escaped criminals, mentally troubled and violent adults, and illegal immigrants who have a long history of crime. Regardless of what the cause is, here's where I'm going with this: Sheriff Arpaio has stepped up his efforts to stop the madness in Phoenix, by conducting more raids and sweeps as often as possible. Him and his team have strived with great effort, to beat down the crime in Phoenix. But they can't just focus on Phoenix and forget about the rest of the county.

They're somewhat stretched out. So back to the four Representatives, they see Sheriff Arpaio doing his best to get Phoenix and the rest of his jurisdiction under control. They can look at Joe's record of success in the past, and know he's a good Law Enforcer. They know of the havoc that's in Phoenix right now, so what do they do? Try and give Arpaio more man-power? Money out of their own pockets? Weapons? A word of appreciation even? No. These four Representatives want to bring Sheriff Joe down! Why? Because he's "racially profiling". Turns out Sheriff Joe had the insane idea that most illegals in Arizona were-- dare I say it --Hispanic! Poor ol' Joe. Little does he know that the majority of illegal immigrants in Arizona, are in fact... Canadian. Riiiight. Not only is he supposedly a racial-profiler, "he violates the illegals' civil rights". Hmmmm, I thought the only people that had rights under the Constitution was Americans. But not according to these Representatives from Capitol Hill. Of course, they don't even read the bills and legislations they vote on, so how can we trust that they've ever read the Constitution to begin with?

Leave it to the geniuses in Washington, to burden the man-on-the-ground actually working and sweating to save the country. Leave it to those morons in D.C. to play politics and pretend like they're the ones solving our problems. Leave it to these whack-jobs on Capitol Hill, to force their politically correct agenda down our throats. I bet if we were to force these four Representatives to haul their butts down to the real America, to do the work Joe's been doing, they'd be a lot more approving of the Sheriff's ideas and policies. But they'd never consider such a thing. They're snugly tucked away in their offices, playing their little games, and not giving a crap about the American people... only their own re-elections.

Which side do I choose? Do I take the side of Congress, whose incompetence overwhelms me everyday? Do I take the side of a congress whose put my country so deep into debt, foreigners nearly own the economy? Do I side with the Congress who signs papers they don't read? Or do I side with Sheriff Joe Arpaio? A man who has drastically cut the crime rate while also cutting costs. Do I side with the Sheriff who doesn't hide behind a desk, but actually gets out there and puts himself on the line everyday? Would your congressman do that? Blog of our Fathers supports Sheriff Joe Arpaio! We think there should be more lawmen and lawmakers like Joe, and less like the ninnies who want him probed. BOOF sides with the man some people call "America's Toughest Sheriff". We support the man who stands in the face of danger for our safety on the edge of a border that has all but broken into chaos. We refuse to support the Government hermits who hide and isolate themselves in their offices like the dictators they are.

I don't want to jump into the issues right away. Instead, I would like to sort of orient you as to what this blog is about and what to expect. I realize that I sorta did that on the right, but there are a few more things which I'd like to say and expand on, that I felt would be too long for some small right-hand spot.

First of all, I would like to welcome you again to Blog of our Fathers aka "BOOF". You are probably aware by now, what this blog is going to be about. But as far as what to expect, you can rely on a clear and simple explanation, of whatever issue is spoken about here. Second, not everyone is big on politics and cultural issues, so things will be approached in a very simple, clear-cut manner. That way everyone can understand what's going on.

There's a lot of complication in politics, so we'll just take everything one step at a time, and we'll try to give a clear and understandable viewpoint, in as simple and few words as possible. Third, I would like to introduce myself. I'm "Pluto". Pluto is a pen-name I've made for myself for the sake of net security. Currently I'm the only one running the blog, but soon I hope to bring in a few other writers as well.

And finally, in case you still do not know what this blog is about: we (future "we") advocate Individual Liberty, Capitalism, Small Government, and the American way. We believe in the country our Fathers founded, and thus the name Blog of our Fathers. We oppose the current big oppressive Government, who strives to take away our rights and freedoms daily, and we oppose the numerous false choices politicians give us. We also oppose the media's attempts to define who we as individuals are, and their monstrous work of trying to wipe away our strong traditional moral fiber. A moral fiber that we have always had, and have always championed.

So not only will this blog be about political issues, it will also be filled with entertainment reviews that pertain to, and effect, our American way. Personally, I am a Libertarian and I'm a Conservative one at that. But there will be other writers on this blog who are not Libertarians. While their beliefs and mine are the same, they have chosen to associate themselves with different parties and alliances. You have my personal guarantee though, that no matter what their political affiliation, they advocate the principles I've laid forth in this post. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site.
